1. Information We Collect
Because M Khata is designed to respect your privacy, we collect minimal personal information.
User-Provided Information: When using the App, you may optionally enter a Boat Name, Owner Name, Phone Number, and Boat Registration Number. Phone numbers and registration numbers are completely optional.
Financial and Ledger Data: Any data you enter regarding fish catches, weights, prices, expenses, crew salaries, and agency ledgers is stored locally on your device only. We do not upload this data to external servers.
2. Backup and Restore (Storage Access)
The App includes a Backup & Restore feature that allows you to manually export and import your ledger data. This feature utilizes the Android Storage Access Framework (SAF).
Exporting Data: When you choose to export your data, the App will prompt you to select a folder on your device or external storage via the system file picker. The App writes your ledger data into a backup file only in the directory you explicitly choose.
Importing Data: When you choose to restore your data, you must manually select a previously saved backup file via the system file picker. The App only accesses the specific file you select.
Data Control: We do not have access to your device’s storage beyond the files/folders you explicitly select. These backup files are managed entirely by you, and we do not upload, collect, or transmit these files to any external servers.
3. Third-Party Services and Data Collection
While we do not store your data on our servers, we use trusted third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or track your behavior for operational purposes:
Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use personalized data (such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, and location coarse data) to serve ads tailored to your interests.
Firebase (Analytics, Notifications, Crashlytics, & Remote Config): We use Google Firebase services to manage and improve our App. This includes:
Analytics & Notifications: Firebase may collect anonymous usage statistics and device identifiers to help us understand how the App is performing and send push notifications.
Crashlytics (Crash Reporting): If the App crashes or encounters an error, Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects technical "Log Data." This includes stack traces, device metadata (OS version, device model, brand), and a unique Crashlytics installation UUID. This data is purely used to fix bugs and improve stability.
Remote Config (App Configuration): We use Firebase Remote Config to customize the App's layout, settings, or features instantly without requiring an App Store update. It may process temporary anonymous installation identifiers to deliver the correct configuration parameters to your device.
4. Data Storage and Deletion
Local Storage: All your ledger entries, business data, and profile details remain on your physical device.
Data Deletion: You have full control over your data. You can delete all your data at any time by clearing the App's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the App. Once uninstalled, all locally stored data is permanently lost and cannot be recovered by us.
Backup Management: Please note that deleting or uninstalling the App will not automatically delete any backup files you manually exported using the Backup feature; you must delete those files manually via your device's file manager.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is safe for general use and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. However, because we use personalized third-party ads, we encourage parents to monitor their children's mobile activity.
6. International Jurisdiction
M Khata is operated from Austria but is tailored for users globally, with a focus on fishermen in India (specifically Gujarat). By using the App, you consent to the data processing practices outlined by our third-party partners (Google and Firebase) under applicable global privacy standards.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or via Firebase notifications.
